2 (18s):
Welcome to series three under Tim Heale podcasts in the last two series, I've told you about my life. I've met many interesting people along the way who have become my friends and what they all have in common is they all have fascinating stories of their own, which they're happy to share with you now. Thank you for listening.

Welcome back to the Tim Heale podcast. This is series four, episode five. In this episode, I'm going to have just a little bit of a rent or maybe just give out some advice.

2 (1m 0s):
Now, yesterday, Boris Johnson shook up his cabinet at a bit of a reshuffle. It got rid of Dominic rub, who was the foreign secretary who had done an okay job. However, the de Barco over him being on holiday. When, what was unfolding in Afghanistan, he should have come back immediately instead of sort of staying on the beach and dealing with business from there. He didn't. So he's gone and now Boris has replaced him with Liz trusts. Liz trust was the secretary for trade and industry, and she's done a pretty good job of bringing in some pretty big plays on the, on the front of new trade deals around the world.

2 (1m 53s):
She's left the trade and industry in a really, really good place. So hopefully she's going to be able to take the bull by the horns and really, really give the foreign office had been a shakeup and hopefully be able to negotiate, getting some sort of British embassy back into Kapow to help out the poor Afghans that still stuck there. I think it's it's easily possible. I think one of the things she needs to do is because the, the Afghan Taliban had taken over the government. The embassy that we had here in London, I think what she needs to do is to offer them some assistance, get him into work and hopefully be able to start opening some dialogue, to be able to issue out some, some visas for people that are stuck in Afghanistan to be able to get back.

2 (2m 53s):
And then she needs to look at a way of opening up the British embassy in Kabul, to be able to give assistance to effectively the Taliban government. I know it goes against the rub to help out the Taliban, but they can't have in charge. So what do we do? We can't just leave the country and let the Chinese and the Russians dominate. We need to get back in there. We need to start some dialogue with the Taliban because we need to secure our interests in our area. We've got an awful lot of people that still stuck in Afghanistan.

2 (3m 35s):
Don't we need to help. We also need to keep an eye on what the Russians and the Chinese are doing. Their sole purpose of helping the Taliban, getting into to power is to go and ripe the country of its mineral wealth at a bargain price. I think that's something that we need to be on top of. I think it's something that we need to be looking at to be able to, I get fair price for the mineral wealth that the has got. We also need to have a hand in it rather than let it all go to China who have got ambitions of taking over the world.

2 (4m 18s):
I'm sure they are looking at having a Chinese empire. I don't think the Russians quite in that sore position, however, they have got an awful lot of influence in an area, particularly in a stance to the north Tajikistan, especially Stan and Turkmenistan. So let's roll on their border. And there's also a small border with China. So there are looking again in to Afghanistan to extract as much mineral wealth as they can. There's a huge deposits of lithium in the country, along with all sorts of other mineral wealth. There's a lot of copper there and there's a lot of precious gems.

2 (5m 0s):
So we don't want the Russians and the Chinese dominate in and taken over all that stuff. We've gone in there and thanks to Biden. We've actually come out in a bit of Ari and all the good work that we've done over the last 20 odd years has all gone to waste. You can already see what's happening with the Taliban, bringing back some of their draconian rules. Yes, they started to say, yes, girls can go back to school. However, it is so really cattail to what they were having. So from that point of view, we need to gain there.

2 (5m 41s):
We need to help those that are protesting and getting them protected. So we can't let the Taliban just get away with carrying out the atrocities that I did before. And if you've got any help that you can offer the Afghans that stuck in the country, please get in touch with your MP and start a process of helping these poor people that are being affected. The are in danger of having an at-large taken in retribution for what I did when we were in there and I helped us. We need to help them.

Thank you for listening. Thanks for listening. I look forward to the next one. Thank you for listening to my podcasts. If you have enjoyed them and your podcast app allows, please leave a comment and share it with your friends. The reason I got into this podcast malarkey is so I could leave a legacy for my children and my grandchildren in the years to come. So they will know what I did with my life. I wish my grandparents had done the same for me. Unfortunately they didn't in my latest series on giving people the opportunity to leave their own legacy for their children and families for the future.
